Artists are told many things about the way the world is, about who they are, and how worthy their work may or may not be. It takes a lot of courage sometimes to continue in the face of what seems like never-ending negativity. But, we have that ultimate freedom. We are free to choose what we think and how we respond to those “slings and arrows of outrageous fortune,” which may neither be arrows nor outrageous. We have the power to choose wisely.

You never know the reason why such and such a painting is bought, it depends too much on the mood and state of mind of the buyers. Painting is intrinsically a market of love; it is difficult to reason when one is struck by that disease
